We had previously written about PepsiCo’s incubator program, PepsiCo10. Since its inception in 2010, PepsiCo10 has aimed to match technology, media and communications entrepreneurs with PepsiCo brands, ultimately testing pilot programs in the digital and social marketing space. While 2011 focused on inviting and identifying European start-up partners, 2012 will see the program expand to two countries serving as a hotbed of emerging tech startups: India and Brazil. Additionally, PepsiCo is inviting its Global Nutrition Group to solicit digital partners, as well.

Why India and Brazil? With almost 103.6MM people expected online in India this year, and 80MM users expected to become 98.5MM by 2015 in Brazil, both countries represent a significant growth opportunity (and audience) for PepsiCo. They’re also both countries that have responded to the Internet’s growth by creating various innovation and ideas driven by tech startups, that aim to make communications and business easier and better for their citizens.
Some of the emerging/nascent-stage technology companies that P10 has identified in Europe thus far — and helped bring to life large-scale brand activations — include:
- TVTak (PepsiCo10 Europe): last Tuesday, a pilot program with Walkers launched the world’s first “Point & Win” second -screen interactive campaign using an innovative video content recognition platform.
- Evil Genius Designs: pilot launched at SXSWi 2011 with the Super Shopper digital game, using motion capture to allow gamers to compete as agile, virtual-shopping cart operators maneuvering down a digitally-enhanced aisle.
